Application Process and Timeline

The Admission Committee reviews applications on a defined schedule and will notify completed applicants of the admission decision by the date specified below.

To open your application file, submit the Common Application and your non-refundable $50 application fee as soon as possible. Required forms can be found at either the Common Application site or on the Reed site.

All required application items must be received in the admission office before the Admission Committee will begin reviewing your application. Items required to complete an application are listed in our application instructions.

If you are applying for financial aid, submit the appropriate forms to the processors by the appropriate deadlines.

*If you're planning to submit your application to Reed College via Common Application Online, please note that the college will be closed January 16-18 for the Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday. Hence we will begin processing all online applications submitted over the weekend when we return on Tuesday the 19th.

If you are submitting your application online, you can do so anytime through January 18 and the application deadline will have been met.

Applications that are being sent through the mail should be postmarked by January 15 to ensure their timely arrival and processing.
